Swapan Kumar Biswas was born in 1961, in a remote village in West Bengal in a poor Namasudra Family. His father was originally from Naliarchar Village in Khulna district, now in Bangladesh.
After completing 12th standard study from UTTARPARA GOVERNMENT HIGH SCHOOL, he went to IIT Kharagpur to study Metallurgical engineering, but as per his father’s wish he left engineering and got admission in Medical College, Calcutta to study MBBS. Then he completed DCH (Diploma in Child Health) from Institute of Child Health, Kolkata. Later he got his M.D. from Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (IPGME&R), Kolkata.
He is in the field of writing for more than 30 years. He writes on various medical article, poems, short stories and article on various topics in Bengali language. His article was published in various journals, health periodicals, and little magazines.
His publication includes two collections of poems, ‘ARDHASATAK’ (অর্ধশতক) and ‘SANKET DIYE JAI’ (সংকেত দিয়ে যাই) and a book on newborn and neonatal feeding titled ‘SHISHU O NABOJATOKER KHADY-KHABAR’. (শিশু ও নবজাতকের খাদ্য খাবার)
He is presently holding the post of Hony. President of IMA- NSD branch.
He served as Assistant Editor of the monthly periodical ‘ADHIKAR’ for more than 20 years. The periodical was related to Dalit issued in Bengali Language.
He is one of the initiator of forming ‘ANAGRASAR SAMPRADAY UNNAYAN SAMITY’ in Bally, Howrah and was the founder secretary of that organization- which is giving service to the downtrodden people to uplift their education, health and other issues.
Now a Government Employee, working under West Bengal Government.
